For my Yi cameras - that aluminum case ROCKS. Followed these two threads but haven't found a link to order them:

--Seems I'm too new here to post links-- so I'll post it this way instead:

    ....threads/sj7-star-fits-3rd-party-sj5000-series-alloy-case.262/
    ....threads/aluminium-cage-sj7.2095/

Does anyone know of a link to purchase one of these? THANK YOU!

The problems with that frame are
    • The camera isn't protected from rain, splashes, debris, dust, etc.
    • SJ7 case is slightly smaller than the inside dimensions of the frame.
The only fix for the size problem is to use a spacer that can transfer heat. Overall, the frame is an attractive idea but not effective without additional engineering.

The best fix is to pressure SJCam into fixing the firmware to reduce the SJ7's operating temperature.

I'm OK with issue #1 (I own a similar case and understand it's limitations).
For #2, I'm wondering if there is a case designed for the SJ7 rather than trying to force it into another's case.

As far as the operating temperature - with the case I own (for one of my other cameras) the tolerances are tight enough where I believe it helps with heat dissipation.

Does anyone have a link to one made for the SJ7? :)

To understand the exposure to "crud", pull the SD and look into the slot. Looking towards front of the camera, some of the electronics and the back of the front of the case. I guess some tape over the slot will help. Protecting the mic can be more challenging.

The only thing I can think of for a spacer is aluminum foil and heatsink grease.

Unless someone has access to CNC equipment (a Maker shop?) and can anodize (nasty process), I doubt an SJ7 heatsink is coming soon.
