Update doesn't working

Actuall I have 1.4.5 on my cam. I never updated before.

Now I follow the steps here and it doesn't work. I put the LD9666.bin on the sd-card, then insert the card in the cam and press for 3-5 sec the power button. The cam turns on and nothing ist happened.

What is wrong?

Once you’ve done that go ahead and try installing the update file.

I hope the fov/gyro/wide bug is fixed ;-)

 

I set some settings and I see that the FOV Menu is gray.

5. When the fish eye correction function is turned on, there is gray FOV menu (FOV turned off)

Why is this so and what FOV is then activated?

 

Because the fish eye correction needs, that the FOV is of the narrow side, it can't be set to the wide end. So only narrow FOV is used. See this image from the dashcamtalk forum as a sample, how much of frame edges are lost by this correction:

 

Ok I understand. But this means no pictures with superview like pano with distortion correction

 

It won’t turn on after I copied the file to my memory card and insert it to my sj6 legend... what will I do? Can anyone help me?

 

Always check carefully, that the FW is correct for your camera model. If the FW file was compressed (zip, rar etc.) then unpack it first.
Did you format your memory card with the FAT32 file system, before you put the file on the card? Format the card and try again. Maybe try another memory card.

i downloaded the fw 1.4.8 but dont know what to do next>?

 

This step is needed only, if the downloaded bin file is compressed. Zipped files can be unpacked with Windows, but some sites (SJCAM also) are using rar compression, for those files I use 7zip utility: http://www.7-zip.org/
If you downloaded a file with the name extention .bin, then no need for unpacking exists.

If you fail at some step and seek for help, always refer what step did you failed.

 

Did you delete the bin file from the card after update and did you press the power button for at least 5 seconds for starting the camera?

 

So try this:
1. format your memory card in the computer.
2. decompress the downloaded FW file first, if it is zip-ed or rar-ed.
3. rename it to FW96660T.bin and put it to the card
4. insert the card into the camera and push the power button for ca 5 sec.
5. wait until the firmware is installed (3 minutes should be more than enough)
6. format the card in camera, if the camera has powered up, or power the camera down, remove the card and delete the FW file from it.

If this does not work, then you should install the newest loader:
1. format your memory card in the computer.
2. download the LD96660A.bin and put it on the card.
3. insert the card into the camera and push the power button for ca 5 sec.
4. wait until the loader is installed (3 minutes should be more than enough)
5. turn the camera off, if it is on (lights on).
6. delete loader file from the memory card
And try again those FW steps above.
