I have problems with this camera since I received it from Gearbest (December 2018). All the problems are already described in this forum in many other posts.

A few days ago, my camera stopped recording after a few seconds. The screen was frozen. I took out the battery and repeated the recording. It stopped filming again. I also changed the SD card without success. I did a hard reset, reinstal firmware ..., all the options I know, without success. The camera works for 10 seconds to 4 minutes, then freezes.

The SJ5000x Elite and SJ5000 that I have are much better.

    Shit Shit!

What camera you are talking about?
When complaining about a camera, please mention the model and the FW version you are talking about!

Camera is course the "best" of Sjcam - Sj8pro, firmware 1.3.0. I also try FW 1.4.0 wia USB with Amba tool with no success.

What memory cards did you try? Were they brand new or used? When I got my SJ8Plus, then I tried to use it with a U1 memory card, that I used with my SJ5000x previously and maybe even earlier with some other cameras. But got hanging issues, when trying to record hi resolution hi bitrate videos. Then I bought a brand new U3 card and all the problems vanished. Memory cards tend to deteriorate with use. Try, if the problem exists when recording low resolution video. If low res video records well, then better memory card might help.

Another thing - what is the ambient temperature at your place? Does the camera get hot when recording?

Side comment: There's a 1.4.0? Where did you find it?

I use Sandisk SDXC Extreme 64GB and 32GB card (U3). I shoot only with 1920 x 1080 60fps resolution, video quality- Fine. Today I tested as you suggested to record with a smaller resolution.

    1.testing: 1920 x 1080 30fps video quality Fine - Camera freezes.
    2.testing: 1920 x 1080 30fps video quality Standard - Camera freezes.
    3.testing: 1920 x 1080 30fps video quality -Economy - camera works OK!

    Ambient temperature is 22°C.
When the camera freezes, its temperature is cca 30-40°.

Tomorrow I will buy a new card to test it

It seems, that there are no overheating issues. 30-40° is OK for the camera.
Before you buy a new memory card, you may try to test your system's (memory card+camera) Read and Write speed with CrystalDiskMark, suggested by RBEmerson in the other thread https://sjcam.com/community/threads...ty/threads/useful-sd-tester.10021/#post-14976
Your card (if it is healthy, in full working order) should be ok by it's tech spec. But you never know until you test it.

+1 - when in doubt, test it.

I'm puzzled that good SD's are associated with this problem. I can't imagine an SD can be too good for this application. Which leaves their readiness to go to work. If they don't test out, well there you are. OTOH if they test as OK and they drive the camera nuts, I'm out of ideas.

Today's testing of the faulty Sj8pro camera with a brand new SanDisk Extreme 64GB card.

First I tested the sd card with CrystalDiskMark 6.0.2. x64

Read 29.18 (MB / s) Write 23.54 (MB / s) - my computer is 8 years old so the values are a bit lower

Then I'm recording with all 1920 x 1080 resolutions. The maximum recording time was 2 minutes and 8 seconds and the shortest 35 seconds. During the tests I reset the camera by removing the battery for about 30 seconds.
I also tried to record with a 4K 30fps resolution. The camera did not even start to record. After reset by pressing Power ON / OFF for about 13 seconds, the camera froze after 1 minute and 28 seconds of recording.

Probably the camera was breathing out before I really started using it.

But did you do a full reset from the menus? I doubt it's a setting conflict, but it can't hurt to try. Have you checked the SD's are seating correctly? IIRC you had one SD that worked - maybe seating or contact cleanliness is an issue?

IIRC there is a full hardware reset outside of the menus, but I don't know what it is. Anybody got that process?

Try the modified 1.3.0 from Goprawn. Can't hurt, might help.

You probably think Default setting. I did.

I tested with 3 SD cards. The camera did not work with anyone.

I will not install FW for warranty.

All I can suggest is a warranty return.
