    My SJ8(1.2.7) is also slow.

My SJ8 performs rather well, despite el cheapo memory card (no brand) used:
    SJ8 file transfer rate 35MB.jpg

Slow performance could be a memory card issue, a cable issue, a computer issue etc.

But for a USB C plug the connection really is slow and maxes out at USB 2 speed. 35MB/s is not really high. The same card I use has a twice as high read rate in the PC card reader. So no real USB 3. It's the same on my Nexus 5X and the Sony Xperia XA1 Plus. Unfortunately the plug type does not tell anything about the port speed.

It's true, that the plug type does not determine the data transfer rate. There are many other factors, as I wrote earlier. My computer, for instance, has no USB3 port, so I can't expect USB 3 speed even if SJ8 supported it. So I'm happy with 35.2MB/sec transfer rate.

    SJ8 USB-C pin assign
    No.1,12 : Gnd
    No.4,9 : Vbus
    No.2 : Mic(L) in
    No.11 : Mic(R) in
    No.8 : Video out
    No.5 : ID
    No.6 : Data+
    No.7 : Data-
    No.3 : +3.2V out
    No.10 : RX

USB 3.1 Data pin No.2,3,10,11 are used for other purposes.
Data pin No.6,7 are USB 2.0.
So SJ8 USB-C data speed is USB 2.
