    I have tested the Trancend permium X 400 cards in all 3 of my SJ cameras ( SJ6 legend - SJ 6 Air and SJ7 star ) both 32 - 64 and 128 Gb

Also i found the Toshiba Exceria M302 working fine, this are the cheapest U3 card in 128 Gb size here in Denmark.

My sandisk ultra was causing too much trouble. The camera used to hang up and also gave warnings like slow card. so i got a Samsung evo uhs1 u3 64 gb and everything is good

One more query for everyone- how do you know if the charging is complete for sj7star?

Red leds on screen go out (if camera off) and if screen is on the battery icon turns green

I'll be happy to find I've got this wrong but AFAIK the camera defaults to formatting with FAT32.

I left it as it came from factory. exFAT. Seemed to work OK.
Camera shut off one or twice while out in -2 F temps so not sure if it was card or cold temps.

OK, I'm back to the US and have my SJ7 at hand. The FAT32/exFAT issue sorts out this way:
The SJ7 format option does format to exFAT. But... the SJ7 will also accept an SD formatted with FAT32.

I formatted a 128 Gb SD with NTFS and had the SJ7 do a format operation. The SD was formatted with exFAT. I then reformatted the card with FAT32formatGUI, as a FAT32 volume and then powered up the SJ7 with this SD. The SD was accepted.

Bottom line: FAT32 or exFAT work with the SJ7. exFAT is the recommended SD file system.

And it still seems to record in 4GB chunks even on an exFat card.

No problem there. Check out my extended Alps videos. Most, in raw form, used three 4Gb files. The only apparent (during editing) seam is that pesky 2+ frame audio dropout I've been whining about.

I meant to get to this sooner... Anyway, I doubt low temperatures are a big problem with the camera. At least after it's been running for a while. Sitting on my desk, shooting 1080 video, after about 30 minutes, it warmed up. A lot. To 135F/57C. If the camera gets to even half of that while out in the cold, consider -2F/-19C to be a non-issue. Two possibilities may help: 1) pull, clean the contacts with 91% alcohol (never, never, never rubbing alcohol - it has oils added), and re-install the SD. 2) Reinstall the current firmware or try V1.15. IMHO V1.15 is more reliable, but if V1.20 has been OK, re-load it.
