The SJ7 STAR requires that you use a fast storage medium to make use of its high performance modes.
Below are the recommended Memory Cards that are proven to work with the Star:

    upload_2017-6-21_20-55-45.png

There are plenty of other cards that may work, but because of the sheer number of card capacities, models, types, and brands, it is nearly impossible for us to list down every single one of them.

If you have experience with a particular card or set of cards, please post a reply below and mention each one that you have tested and tell us what you think. Everyone in the community could benefit from it.

So what memory card/s do you use?

I can tell you that my old card from my old camcorder only works sometimes. Often, the video cuts out, the camera beeps, and the camera says slow card. Therefore, do NOT buy a SanDisk Ultra 64GB XC1 Class 10 card. I am purchasing a SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB V30 UHS-3 card which is the newer version of the one above. I'll let you know how it goes in my SJ7 Star.

I will verify that the SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB V30 UHS-3 card works great even at 4K with the SJ7 STAR No problems at all.

    Looks like this: [IMG]

I did have one problem the other day with it saying slow card again. I know it's not the card as it has worked flawlessly. I rebooted the camera twice and gave it a second to read the card and it worked fine. It seems this is a software issue. I plan on doing a review video on my DIY Youtube channel once I use it a little more.

So far, I've used it underwater in my kid's pool (he helped), attached it to a kite while flying it, flew with it in a Cessna152 (see my Eric Flight YouTube channel), used it several times as a car dash cam, and used it for general video and pictures.

It has worked well as I get used to having a small action cam and what you can do with it.

    Hi @BAKAS GEORGE
Please see the original post at the top of this thread. It is suggested that you format that card first prior to updating your firmware.

Hello all! Seems to be, that Kingston 64 GB UHS-1 Speed class 10 (U3) does not work. Firtsly, formating via camera sometimes gives back error (format error). If formating goes OK - camera creates 2 folders (can see on laptop), but camera cant record anything on it (error: no card). In bottom right corner i see that it shows 0.0G. Is that means that it's not supported??

Already did formating on laptop with exFat - same problems. Firmaware 1.15

Also, I tried same type of card (Kingston UHS-1 Speed class 10 (U3)), but with 32 GB - there are probems too! First time, camera recognized it, but video recording stops after 2 sec. Then, after next attemp of video recording - it's stops after 2 secs and all buttons of camera doesnt works, but i can see everything in videoscreen. Touch doesnt work too.

I got TWO of them (32 gb) and they both got exact same problem

    @Ilya Lukhtanov
Where did you buy them from? Sounds like a classic case of fake card capacity/speeds.
Formatting 32GB cards should never be a problem.

in our big local store, there cant be a fake. after this,i read a lot of forums and many people said that exactly this Kingston "red" cards are not working. 64GB and 32GB. It's a special 4k edition U3 class..

I changed those cards to SONY SR-64UY3A/T (64 GB Class 10 U1) but with 4K XAVC S support up to 90 mb/s speed. And it works fine now! You got Sony U3 at first post, but U1 works too with 4k and with camera.

Yes, the camera will not work right unless you format card in camera.

You may try putting the card into your pc and run an error check on the card.

if you cant format the card or move files to it, then in might have entered the failsafe read only mode, i had it happen a few times and every time i had to make a RMA and get a new card.

A good little pice of free software to test SD cards are h2testw, it will write/read on the whole card and so fill it up with its test file.

This happen i had brand new fine U1 and U3 cards die on me even before i got to fill the card up one time :( lucky replacement cards have been fine.
