I received my SJ7 yesterday and really like it. I do find the video playback volume and beeps from the speaker on the top to be very low. I can barely hear even with my ear right next to it. Is this typical? The audio from the microphone is fine and controllable on the videos.
No problem there - it's the camera. My hearing is shot from too much big music in small spaces. For me, the camera is almost inaudible. As far as playback audio, my real concern is "does the video look close to right?". Levels, etc. will get sorted out during editing.
This is my first mini action camera and I find the video and audio this thing does to be very good. I'm experimenting w/mounts and the external microphone on my bike rides and very much am in learning mode. The audio and video loaded onto my laptop are excellent except for my mistakes, and wind noise. Amazed at the Gyro vibration dampening! I just thought they wasted a speaker if it's no louder than that.
I would have to agree the volume from the speaker is so low it is imo near worthless. And I like you am very new to this type hardware but I am sure it will get figured out
I read a post where a guy opened the front of his SJ7 and turned the speaker around. He was able to hear it much better and I am tempted to check into that myself, but don't want to void my warranty or mar the front cover. My camera works fine except for that, so for now will just coast along. I've had my SJ7 for a month now and have learned a great deal from reading this forum.
