Since SJ7 can shoot raw files, I decided to do a comparison between dng and jpeg straight out of the cam.

Only a notice: the converter turns the raw files into dng at 10.5 megapixels resolution, not 12.

However, I experienced these advantages in shooting raw over jpeg:

1- NO artifacts (the jpeg is oversharpened, even at normal setting, the soft setting is unusable because it soften the images too much, the same happens with video files, sadly)
    2- better color rendition
    3- better "natural-looking" images
4- less noise and good detail level

For SJ CAM guys: I hope for a new and improved raw/dng converter soon (like the one of SJ6 Legend, which works very very good).

Left RAW converted with Adobe Camera RAW, right JPEG. RAW VS JPEG.jpg
