MANUAL FIRMWARE UPDATE PROCEDURE All SJCAM cameras can be updated manually. See if there's a new version for your camera model by going to the Firmware Update section on our support site: support.sjcamhd.com The procedure for manually updating your camera is quick and simple. We will use the SJ7 Star firmware update as an example below. Follow these steps to install the new firmware: 1. Take the memory card out of the camera by pushing it in gently with a fingernail. The card will pop out slightly, then just pull it out. 2. Put the memory card into your computer and format it in FAT32 as shown below. NOTE: The card needs to be formatted in FAT32 or the update may not happen. 3. Go to the SJCAM Support website, and look for your camera model under the Firmware download section (in this case, the SJ7 Star), then download the .BIN file to your computer 4. Copy the file and paste it into the memory card. 4. Insert the card into the camera, make sure you have a fully charged battery. 5. Turn the camera on, go to Settings and select Version. The camera will ask you if you want to update the firmware. (In other camera models, powering on will activate the update installation immediately.) 6. Accept it, and wait until the process finishes, the screen may shut down for a few seconds and the LED lights may blink. When the SJCAM logo appears, you have successfully updated your camera's firmware. You can verify this by going to Settings, then go to Version to see if you have the firmware number correct. NOTE: Sometimes the SJCAM ZONE app will have the more current firmware version. You may try to connect your camera via wifi first, then connect it to the app, then see if there is an update available for your SJCAM. ******************* Let us know if you have questions, and we'll get back to you the soonest we can.
