Is anyone using these low resolution videos that are automatically generated in a lower resolution than the main video with the extension *.LRV?
The file encoding is the same as the main video (H.264/AVC or H.265/HEVC).
I think it is not an own container format but just a renamed MP4 file.
The generation of these files uses processor power and thus consumes battery life as well as SD card space.
At least I would like to have an option to turn them OFF, as I do not use the remote smartphone APP.

BTW: The MPC-HC (media player classic) can play these files.

I totally agree with you. The LRV file size is the same as the main mp4 and doubles the space on the SD card.
The LRV on - off option would be very useful.

You have possibly switched on the App Preview option:
"You can switch on/off App Preview. If turned on a preview file will be created which allows it to be viewed via your app on your smartphone (.LRV file). Turn it off if you don’t use the app to save storage. (removed with Firmware V1.2.1)"

If you use FW prior v1.2.1, then just turn it off.
If you have FW v 1.2.1 or later, and this option is missing from the menu, then just try to reset your camera to factory defaults. If this won't help, then reflash the camera to FW prior v1.2.1, then just turn it off, and upgrade to the latest FW again.

Thank you for the tip. But flashing back and forth is not really a usable solution for me. This is a hack. It's on SJCAM to fix this.
