SJCam SJ8 PRO v1.3.1: https://cloud.mail.ru/public/5rFX/4n48XXXan Modified firmware: http://videoreg.forum2.net/viewtopic.php?id=79&p=8#p6893
It is your personal choice to install firmware or not. This cannot affect the warranty, since you can always install the official version of the firmware. In the modified version, only the video parameters are changed and nothing more...
It's an old post but here goes: Have you seen the reviews for Sjcam:s new Ion series? Top of the line "Krypton", and the bitrates are in the toilet!
I am baffled about why SJCam continues to release products that aren't ready to give true hi res imagery. OTOH SJCam persists in essentially ignoring customers, or at least trying to find out what customers want. And it's now 99% certain the SJ8 has hit EOL, and the SJ9 may be at risk. I remain puzzled about why SJCam hasn't hit EOL, too.
Maybe selling product through a partner company? Have you perused the reviews for the suspiciously similar to the sjcam sj 8 pro, vantop Moment 6s?
The Chinese market space plagued with a casual approach to intellectual property rights. It's marked with an enhanced skill at reverse engineering. And a casual approach to product quality. In short, it's more than likely that Vantop Moment 6S is a knockoff of another product. A side by side comparison would probably show differences between the two, with the 6S not necessarily the better camera.
