Yes a human readable verbal description, not a computer description, about what you expect to find in the file - same as saying that a certain file is a letter. It doesn't say anything about the structure of the file it just yells me that once I've figured out how to read it there will be a letter inside.

Sorry about such a late reply. I wasn’t notified for some reason. The link by Bezod is just a plugin so even after all this time I am unable to use my RAW photos. I don’t have photoshop or lightroom, but I have tried various other free or trialware programs unsuccessfully. This is so frustrating.

I'm In the same boat. This has been a frustrating waste of time and money. I'm a pro photographer and videographer very familiar with timelapse workflows. I've followed the instructions to the T for the M20. Updated firmware, tried all versions of this converter, including Tiff and DNG inside the converter and what I get every time is "no items match this description", in the search (I'm on a PC). Jpegs work fine but I bought the cam for RAW timelapses. Very frustrating. Any tips or insight here would be wonderful.

I feel for you even more if doing it at such a high level. I wish Bezbod would come back to us and answer the questions properly. I.e. why it wasn't stated the download was just a plugin for example. So frustrating. Knowing the tool we want to use is there but can't use it.

I went out for the first time in a long while (health) with my Canon 100D. I accidentally took some jpgs, and then realised. Put the settings back to RAW and they were world's apart after editing. This is we folk like us go for RAW. What a red herring we are left with :-(.

It's 4 months now since posting. Surely there is someone who can help? Jim Mckay: did you have any joy finding a work around?

Thanks Damian, but it seems the links are aimed at Windows users. Chat about exe files etc. I have replied though asking what about us Mac users. Whether I get a reply remains to be seen. At the moment apart from using it as its main use as an action cam; I can't use it for RAW which is why I went for this brand. Might as well have gone for any decent other brand that was cheaper.

The 1st link wants your credit card or PayPal details to download it?

Don't know. I don't have any ios devices, so there is no point to download ios version for me.
If the Mac version does not help, then there is a Linux version also. I hope, there are no allergies against Linux.

I'd like to call my self multi cultural but I've never used Linux lol.

The Raw2Nef app downloaded and installed fine though.

I'm new to all this but at present can't get it to work. I've tried to open the raw file directly in the app but it's not selectable.

I've created a ini file but still didn't work, however the ini file I created was rich text format when it should be plain text. I'll try again this evening see where I get. If I have the raw file and ini file in the same folder as the app can remove the SJ8 text at the end of the ini file?

No. I wrote ini settings for SJ7. Don't have any SJ8 raw images yet, so I can't find if these parameters match at all. The ini file specifies those settings as parameters for SJ7. If the converter can read exif and gets camera string from there, then for SJ7 the "SJ/" part may be omitted from the command line. For SJ8 you must construct proper ini line first. Only if it uses the same parameters as SJ7, then the command line should work with SJ8 raw files too, but you can't omit "SJ7" from there.

    Ok, got it now! Thanks!
So far I can confirm, that image size parameters don't match wit SJ7. So separate ini line must be constructed.

    Meaning of ini line parameters:
    file_size, data_offset, raw_width, raw_height, cfa_colors, line_length, bits, flags, camera ID

For SJ7 there is ini line
    21026304, 0, 3744, 2808, 7, 7488, 16, 4, SJ7
    Where
21026304 is file size (all raw files of SJ7 are exactly this big)
0 - no offset, image data start right from the first byte of the file.
3744 - raw image width in pixels (jpg is larger, because it is streched)
2808 - raw image height in pixels (jpg is larger, because it is streched)
7 - color order in bayer matrix, 7= RGGB
7488 = image line length in bytes = image size in bytes divided with image height in pixels.
    16 = 16 bits (2 bytes) per pixel.
4 means that file uses intel byte order in 16-bits data
SJ7 - Camera ID string from the exif to help the app to match proper ini line with the raw file, if exif info is readable from paired jpg. In the command line it is needed if the jpg or exif info is missing or not readable. Then this string tells to the converter, wich ini line to use.

Now I try to find right parameters for SJ8.

So far I guess, that for SJ8, the ini line should be like (without parenthesis, of course):
    24064000, 0, 4000, 3008, (7), 8000, 16, (4), (SJ8)
Parameters in parenthesis should be checked further.

So far I managed to get this image from your raw:

Sure, some color parameters must be adjusted more.

Can you check, what camera string is in the camera model line of SJ8 jpg-s exif info?

Now converted (through the NEF) into jpg. Don't know if the colors are very wrong or not. Did not adjust anything in raw converter (not tuned at all).

So far I expect, that the correct ini line for SJ8 is
    24064000, 0, 4000, 3008, 7, 8000, 16, 4, SJ8
Haven't seen any original jpg-s from SJ8, so can't check what is camera string there.

Edit: Now I adjusted WB. Still don't know, what are the real colors in this room, but maybe closer to this, than previous photos.
