    The response on the ticket:
Is it me or is this a "if your camera gets hot, don't use it" answer? Is it just me or is this a "blame the customer for using the product" answer? Is it just me or is this answer dumber than dirt?

I went to look at the video of shoot while the camera heating up, looking at the IR gun. I took the battery out, as per "We suggest you pull out battery when using camera as dash cam in car because relatively inclosing space is not good for heat dissipation." I connected the camera to my PC, which should power the camera up. The only way to power up the camera is with the battery in place. The battery can come out after the camera is on external power. However I think this procedure is simply a work-around for problems with the camera. I expect better from SJCam.

Here are six temperature readings. The first was taken about three minutes before the first frame with a time stamp. With the time stamps, it took about 35 minutes to reach 135F/57C.
The camera was shooting 1080p@60 fps, my usual shooting mode.
The photos are being sent as part of ticket 23620.

FWIW, with the camera in mass storage mode, it was at about 115F/46C when I disconnected it. Again, this is setting in free air, not a case.

I wonder about how many other action cams, of any brand, have this problem?

Silly me, I had another camera, the Sena Prism. It got hot, too. I don't have it, so I can't check how hot it is when shooting, but it was close to "don't want to hold it". Which means the SJ7's operating temperature isn't as exceptional as initially thought.
