    Hi all,

This issue/restriction is extremely odd to me. I don't understand why the FOV option is greyed out for some video resolutions.

I have checked every video resolution setting and tagged it as having FOV option available or not. See below.

    Video_Res FOV
    4K 25fps 16:9 YES
    4K 25fps SV YES

    2160P 25fps 4:3 YES
    2160P 24fps 4:3 YES

    2.7K 25fps 4:3 YES
    2.7K 25fps SV NO
    2.7K 25fps 16:9 YES

    2.5K 50fps 16:9 YES
    2.5K 25fps 16:9 YES

    1440P 50fps 4:3 YES
    1440P 25fps 4:3 YES

    1080P 100fps 16:9 YES
    1080P 50fps 16:9 NO
    1080P 25fps 16:9 NO
    1080P 50fps SV NO
    1080P 25fps SV NO

    960P 100fps 4:3 YES
    960P 60fps 4:3 YES
    960P 25fps 4:3 YES

    720P 200fps 16:9 YES
    720P 100fps 16:9 YES
    720P 50fps 16:9 YES
    720P 25fps 16:9 YES
    720P 100fps SV NO

Can anyone explain to me why (in particular) MOST of the 1080P video resolutions do not allow the FOV setting to be configured. This is so frustrating, I'm pretty much forced to use 1080P as my max resolution as that is the max res that EIS is available for. But I cannot control the FOV. I'd like to shoot with a narrow or even medium FOV at 1080P because the default FOV at this res is too wide. It takes from the action, perception of speed for example while on a motocross track is not the same as if it was a narrow FOV

    Hi Damian,

Thank you for posting that link, I tried a search using the term FOV but nothing came up for me as I was looking for related threads.

However my question was WHY FOV is unavailable for most 1080P resolutions. I don't understand the logic behind why some of the settings in the link you provided are unavailable for some resolutions. There is no consistency in my opinion.

    Regards,

Some of the "why" is technical (dunno which) and, by consensus here, probably some of it is "just because". Not a great answer, but there isn't a detailed answer that we know of. Life with SJCam is a life with less than stellar communications. [/ big frown ]
