Gyro at 4k - really - that's good. How well does it work? So the image rotation now actually rotates the image as well as the stamps. I'm guessing that you meant it DOESN'T work at all resolutions as it's "bad news"
About the noise in low light, it might be attributed to the halving of the framerate to allow for collecting more light in for each frame. Rotation: does what it says it should do, rotate everything for when mounting the camera upside down. Not sure what's wrong, V1.21r3 doesn't give me the option to turn on gyro on 4K. Strange
Please be advised that the topic here is not about an update firmware, it's a Beta firmware for testing. But to answer your question, yes, this beta build has image rotation. As a feature being tested in Beta firmware, it may or may not be included, depending on IF it will be stable and worthy enough to be part of the actual release.
Ok thank you. I see the link for rev2 but not the Rev3 that RBEmerson is referencing. Anyone got a link to it?
Absent a big surprise, inverting 4K works quite well. It's not so effective with 1080, though. It's as if doesn't exist... grrr...
I can not find the RAW converter anymore. However, the RAW format is useless if I can not manually set the ISO and shutter speed ...
OK, had a little play - Image Rotation rotats the image now as well - but only at 4k So how did you get gyro for 4k? It's greyed out and as far as I am aware the A12 processor doesn't support gyro other than 180 at 25/30/50/60 fps
The converter has been pulled down I think (I actually have no copy of that link) because they're working out the issue of the reds. I confirm Beta revision3 has no image rotation on 1080p. I had to reinstall the 3rd build because it showed mine everything on and not grey.
Ok, I'll wait for the converter to be online again, because I can't test the raw feature anyway. I've noticed the ISO value is selectable but if I try to set manually the shutter speed (long exposure) the RAW turns off. The SOFT sharpness setting is simply a deprecable BLUR FILTER, the STANDARD sharpness is too sharp to me and introduces some artifacts... the mic volume does not work properly until I set the desired value every time I turn the camera on. I hope all of these bugs will be fixed in the stable 1.21. Now I'm running 1.21 r3, videos and jpeg photos are fine to me. This is a great action camera... very good hardware and lens but the firmware absolutely needs these improvements. Sorry if my english is poor Greetings from Italy.
I can't help with the RAW conversion issue. If changing ISO disables RAW, that's a bug. Sharp, soft, etc. are a matter of personal taste. I suggest leaving those changes for work with Photoshop, GIMP, etc., etc. I'm surprised that the mic volume setting has to be changed when powering up the camera. I haven't seen this happen with 1.15, 1.17 beta, 1.18, or 1.20. I'll test 1.21r3 shortly. There is one known, persistent mic problem: when set to OFF, the mic output is still recorded (50% volume???). Cheer up - your English is much, much better than my Italian. [/grin] ADDED: I set the mic to 100%, shot some video, turned off the camera, turned it on, - the mic was still at 100% Please understand that V1.21 is beta software - intended only for testing. The last reliable version is 1.20.
"Cheer up - your English is much, much better than my Italian." Thank you Yes, the menu shows the last setting used, but the actual volume changes. Example: I often use 50% volume for recording my drum stuffs in order to avoid sound distortion (the internal mic gives pleasant results!!!), then I set the sensitivity to 50%. I turn off the camera after recording... When I turn on the camera again, the mic is still to 50% (into menu) but the actual volume is higher... Then I have to re-set the proper value by switching the menu: 50% --> 60% --> then again 50% for having REAL 50% sensitivity. This happens with each version (1.20/1.18/1.21b). Sorry for the off topic.
WOW! I have never seen that before, but I can reproduce it. You've found a bug in the firmware. Congratulations! And congratulations on the drumming, too!
