Hi all. Has anyone had an issue with a clicking noise when filming in 1080 30fps?

A couple of weeks back got to find some time to go for a drive and use my SJ7 in the 4x4. Filmed for about 30 minutes plus. When my ageing Mac finnaly finished with the editing (17 hours!) and I played back the video I noticed a consistent clicking noise.

Any idea what could be causing it?

Have you tested any of the original files recorded by the camera for clicks?

I find to view the clips back on my MacBook I need to use the native QuickTime player. I’ve tried vlc but it would stutter constantly.

Ah, sounds like a plan. I will do that next time as I deleted the originals this time around, DOH!

Did you ever get this resolved? I've noticed exactly the same thing.

I am off out for a drive this afternoon and I am going to be giving it a go again. As soon as I have the video edited I will post my findings. This time though I will be keeping the original files, lol, so I can compare and see if the clicking is on both or not.

Out of interest did you use an external mic?

Also was the camera in its protective case?

    No, just the camera's mic.

Yes, it was in it's dive case.

What I can say is the original, non edited and non stitched together files do not have any clicking sounds what so ever. Once I done some editing I will let you know how it is .

Well if the the clicking noise is absent from the original files then the clicking is being added by your editor.

If the camera is in the case, it moves around just enough to cause clicking in the audio. Based on my experience, if you're using the camera effectively as a dashcam, use the open frame to get at least some cooling while shooting. The cases are almost worthless for effective cooling. If you must use the case, a small paper shim will help wedge the camera in place - no clicks. But be very careful when handling the camera if it's been running for more than 10-15 minutes. Hot!!

Other possible causes are the power cable wiggling (if using external power) and something bumping against the case/camera. We had small strings of Mardi Gras beads hanging from the mirror and... taptatap... oops.

Surely that’s irrelevant in this issue if the clicking noise is not present in the unedited clips. The only possible cause can be during the editing process?

I listed possible external clicking sources and possible cures. Some noises aren't immediately obvious, some are. If it's 100% certain the raw footage is clean, then of course it's not the camera.

Hello, I am from Greece and I bought the sjcam 7star In the video playback of the PC I notice that it makes a pixel (as if it is vibrating or noise) what can happen or what settings should I do?
Noise is noticed in multiple frames (1080p 100p) when I download to 50 frames or the 25ch or image is clearer with much less noise.
It's always the image in these cameras, Thanks![IMG]
