Yeah, yeah, yeah... it's OT but... A friend wants to be able to post here but keeps getting insufficient privileges messages at the bottom of any page. I know I've seen this problem resolved but I've lost the trick to fixing that. There is an existing account. Profile info can be changed. Posting is out of the question. What am I not seeing?
New users will get this limitation: "Please do not post links until you have 3 posts, it will be rejected to prevent spam. Some words are also blocked due to being used in spam messages. This also affects signatures and "About You" in profile."
I know about the three post limit - no big deal there. The problem is the user keeps getting " insufficient privileges" to make any post, period. I invented a new user and... insufficient privileges, too. That's the head scratcher.
It seems, that fresh member are graded as Viewing members, maybe for some days, before they obtain posting rights.
Very strange - four days later, the account still [can't] post. ??? EDIT: corrected and replaced bracketed
Huh? Hold on let me see what's happening. I know we had a few attacks lately and caused some trouble, not sure if it has anything to do with accounts not getting privileges.
The user name is TonyHCGP It sounds as though this user name was caught up in the post-break-in problems.
Got him. His email address was flagged and was automatically put on the pending-approval list. I approved him in just now. Let him know what happened, certain words in the email address field can be flagged by the system as suspicious. He'll know what I mean.
I was actually wondering if that account belongs to you. Everything is the same, just lacking 2 other letters.
